...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of North Mississippi, including the following
counties, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc and Union.
* WHEN...Until 330 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Some low-water crossings may become impassable. Ponding of water
in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1226 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Tupelo, Amory, Pontotoc, Fulton, Houston, Verona, Okolona,
Tombigbee State Park, Trace State Park, Saltillo, Guntown,
Shannon, Plantersville, Mantachie, Smithville, Ecru, Furrs,
Troy, Evergreen and New Wren.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

The Flood Advisory is cancelled for a portion of North Mississippi,
including the following areas, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe,
Pontotoc and Union.
Flood waters have receded. The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining
road closures.
