The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Eastern Cerro Gordo County in north central Iowa...

* Until 1045 PM CDT.

* At 1019 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
  tornado was located near Burchinal, or 7 miles south of Mason City,
  moving east at 55 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
  eastern Cerro Gordo County, including the following locations...
  Rock Falls, Burchinal, Portland, and Swaledale.

This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 189 and 193.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Do not
wait to see or hear the tornado. TAKE COVER NOW!

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM CDT FOR EASTERN
CERRO GORDO COUNTY...

At 1026 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located near Portland, or 7
miles southeast of Mason City, moving east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Emergency management confirmed tornado north of Rockwell 
         and just south of Mason City moving northeast.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

Locations impacted include...
Mason City, Nora Springs, Rockwell, Swaledale, Rock Falls, Burchinal,
and Portland.

This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 189 and 193.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR EASTERN CERRO GORDO COUNTY WILL EXPIRE AT
1045 PM CDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, gusty
winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 100 AM CDT for north central
Iowa.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for
the area for damaging winds.
