...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 145 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Northwestern Spartanburg County in upstate South
Carolina...
* WHEN...Until 145 AM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams
and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks,
greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and
parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible.
A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A
small culvert washout or two is possible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 749 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
torrential rainfall due to training thunderstorms. Fortunately,
rain rates are starting to decrease as these thunderstorms
gradually weaken. However, this rainfall is occurring over
saturated soils more susceptible to excessive runoff. This
runoff will likely overwhelm ditches and driveways and may flood
adjacent roadway lowspots. Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas
adjacent to small streams is imminent and may continue to develop
in isolated areas over the next 60-90 minutes. Poorly draining
intersections and low spots along roadways are also likely to
flood. Exercise caution when encountering ponding and avoid
flooded roadways.
Areas of greatest concern include along Motlow Creek and Holston
Creek near Campobello and Meadow Creek near SC 292 and Pendel Rd.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Boiling Springs SC, Inman, Campobello and Lake Bowen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
