...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 115 AM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following 
  counties, Harlan, Leslie and Letcher.

* WHEN...Until 115 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is 
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1016 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.25 inches of rain have
    fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will allow minor flooding to
    perist or worsen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Hyden, Cumberland, Evarts, Lynch, Benham, Totz, Arthur,
    Diane, Pine Mountain, Hiram, Nolansburg, Louellen,
    Highsplint, Black Bottom, Shields, Gordon, Lejunior, Big
    Laurel, Big Rock and Closplint.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

a portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following areas,

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose an 
imminent threat. Please continue to heed any lingering road closures.
