The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Laurel County in south central Kentucky...
Northwestern Knox County in southeastern Kentucky...
* Until 1115 PM EDT.
* At 823 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Barbourville, Gray, Bertha Station, Rossland, Lynn Camp, Arkle,
Garrich, Knoxfork, Tuttle, McHargue, Bentley Station, Lowell,
Emmanuel, Jarvis, Baileys Switch, Lesbas, Lily, Cannon, Heidrick
and North Corbin.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN LAUREL AND NORTHWESTERN KNOX COUNTIES...
At 1009 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that earlier thunderstorms
produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5
inches of rain fell. Additional thunderstorms are approaching the
warned area, and they could produce another round of heavy rainfall.
The additional rainfall could allow any ongoing flash flooding to
continue or worsen.

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 800 AM EDT Wednesday for
portions of east central, south central, and southeast Kentucky.
