The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central Powell County in east central Kentucky...
* Until 900 PM EDT.
* At 749 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Stanton, Clay City, Rosslyn, Cat Creek and Bowen.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

* Until 1100 PM EDT.
* At 809 PM EDT, An NWS Employee reported flash flooding in Stanton
after strong thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall. Between 1.5
and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up
to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
already occurring.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR CENTRAL POWELL COUNTY...
At 1040 PM EDT, trained weather spotters reported flash flooding in
Stanton. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain fell from earlier
thunderstorms. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional
rainfall is expected. Flash flooding already occurred.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS CANCELLED FOR CENTRAL POWELL COUNTY...
The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose an
immediate threat.
However, a Flood Watch remains in effect until 800 AM EDT Friday for
portions of east central, northeast, and southeast Kentucky.
