The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Garfield County in southern Utah...
  North Central Kane County in southern Utah...

* Until 545 PM MDT.

* At 247 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain in the upper Paria River Basin. Between 0.5 and 1.25
  inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  eastern and lower elevation portions of Bryce Canyon National Park,
  Tropic and Cannonville, and the Paria River from Tropic through
  Herm Pollock slot canyon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM MDT THIS
AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHWESTERN GARFIELD AND NORTH CENTRAL KANE
COUNTIES...

At 426 PM MDT, Thunderstorms produced 0.75 to 1.5 inches of rain in
the Upper Paria River Basin. Flash flooding is already ongoing, with
flows anticipated to continue moving downstream through the Paria
River.

HAZARD...Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms producing life-
         threatening flash flooding in the Upper Paria River.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         normally dry washes, and backcountry roads.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
