The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Forsyth Burn Scar in...
  Central Washington County in southwestern Utah...

* Until 630 PM MDT.

* At 338 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain over the Forsyth Burn Scar. Between 0.5 and 1.25 inches
  of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in
  debris flows within the Pine Valley Recreation Area, with flooding
  expected downstream along the Santa Clara River to just below Baker
  Reservoir. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and
  other loose materials.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
           flash flooding in and around the Forsyth Burn Scar
           downstream to just below Baker Reservoir.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the
           Forsyth Burn Scar.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Pine Valley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches
in the Forsyth Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated
across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If
you encounter flood waters...climb to safety.

Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

UNTIL 630 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR CENTRAL WASHINGTON COUNTY...

At 517 PM MDT, The Santa Clara near Pine Valley USGS gage has
reported a rise between 2 to 2.5 feet at the gage site. Between 0.5
and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen from earlier thunderstorms. Flash
flooding is already occurring.


HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding in and around the Forsyth Burn Scar
         downstream to just below Baker Reservoir.

The heavy rain has ended over the Forsyth burn scar. Flood waters
have receded. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please
continue to heed remaining road closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1200 PM MDT Friday for portions
of central, southern, and southwest Utah.
