The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
West Central Pima County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 1000 PM MST.
* At 702 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.8 and 1.8 inches of
rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Ali Chugk, Pia Oik, Santa Cruz
and Lukeville.
This includes Route 85 between mile markers 72 and 80.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Ali Chuk Wash, Siovi Shuatak Wash, San Cristobal Wash, Hali Murk
Wash, Pisinimo Wash, Pia Oik Wash, Growler Wash, Vamori Wash, Gu Vo
Wash, Aguajita Wash, Chukut Kuk Wash and San Simon Wash.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
