The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southwestern Pima County in southeastern Arizona...
* Until 515 AM MST.
* At 220 AM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 inch in 1 hour.
Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned
area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain from thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, streets as
well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Vamori and Cowlic.
The Vamori Wash at Kom Vo may exceed bankfull in the next 3 hours.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Vamori Wash, Baboquivari Wash, Fresnal Wash, Chukut Kuk Wash,
Topawa Wash and Big Wash.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
