* Flash Flood Warning for...
Northeastern Boone County in central West Virginia...
Southeastern Kanawha County in central West Virginia...
Western Fayette County in southeastern West Virginia...
North Central Raleigh County in southeastern West Virginia...
* Until 1030 AM EDT.
* At 629 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Fayetteville, Oak Hill, Montgomery, Chesapeake, Marmet, Ansted,
Belle, Cedar Grove, East Bank, Glasgow, Smithers, Gauley Bridge,
Pratt, Burnwell, Powellton, Hawks Nest State Park, Coal Fork,
Handley, Sylvester and Thurmond.
This includes the following highways...
Route 19 between mile markers 8 and 16...and between mile markers 18
and 23. West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 57 and 92.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.

MORNING FOR NORTHEASTERN BOONE, SOUTHEASTERN KANAWHA, WESTERN FAYETTE
AND NORTH CENTRAL RALEIGH COUNTIES...
At 817 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
