The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  South central Imperial County in southeastern California...

* Until 515 PM PDT.

* At 426 PM PDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Calexico, and
  is nearly stationary.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  El Centro, Calexico, Mt. Signal, Bonds Corner, and Heber.

This includes the following highways...
CA Interstate 8 between mile markers 38 and 47.
CA Route 111 between mile markers 1 and 10.
CA Route 86 between mile markers 1 and 6.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL IMPERIAL COUNTY
WILL EXPIRE AT 515 PM PDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
Phoenix.
