The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Central La Paz County in west central Arizona...

* Until 830 PM MST.

* At 745 PM MST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from Quartzsite to 8 miles northwest of Kofa Wildlife
  Refuge, and are nearly stationary.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Quartzsite.

This includes the following highways...
AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 9 and 30.
AZ Route 95 between mile markers 92 and 119.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

FOR CENTRAL LA PAZ COUNTY...

At 815 PM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Kofa Wildlife
Refuge, or 40 miles south of Parker, and is nearly stationary.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Quartzsite.

This includes the following highways...
AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 21 and 30.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR CENTRAL LA PAZ COUNTY WILL
EXPIRE AT 830 PM MST...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.
