The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  West central Jones County in eastern North Carolina...
  Southwestern Greene County in eastern North Carolina...
  Lenoir County in eastern North Carolina...
  Northern Duplin County in eastern North Carolina...

* Until 830 PM EDT.

* At 721 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from Goldsboro to 8 miles north of Mount Olive, moving
  southeast at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage 
           to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Kinston, Warsaw, La Grange, Mount Olive, Kornegay, Deep Run,
  Bowdens, Beautancus, Kenansville, Jason, Albertson, Sarecta,
  Faison, Pink Hill, Calypso, and Sandy Bottom.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Please send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees
or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office
in Newport at 1-800-889-6889.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

SOUTHWESTERN GREENE...LENOIR AND NORTHERN DUPLIN COUNTIES IS
CANCELLED...

The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe
limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.  However, gusty winds are
still possible with these thunderstorms.
