The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northeastern Columbia County in east central Georgia...
  Northeastern Richmond County in east central Georgia...
  Southwestern Edgefield County in central South Carolina...
  West central Aiken County in central South Carolina...
  Southeastern McCormick County in central South Carolina...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 637 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Clarks Hill
  Recreation Area, or 8 miles north of Martinez, moving east at 10 
  mph. An additional severe thunderstorm was located in Edgefield 
  County west of Murphys Estates.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage 
           to trees and powerlines.

* Locations impacted include...
  North Augusta, Evans, Martinez, Augusta, Clearwater, Belvedere,
  Clarks Hill Recreation Area, J. Strom Thurmond Dam, Riverwood,
  Augusta National Golf Club, Burnettown, West End Augusta, Poverty
  Hill, Modoc, Westover Memorial Park, Scotts Landing, Kroc Center,
  Savannah Bluffs Heritage Preserve, Savannah Rapids Park, and
  Medical District Augusta.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 198 and 201.
 Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 9.
 Interstate 520 in Georgia near mile marker 15.
 Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 23.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Severe thunderstorms can produce large capsizing waves and frequent
lightning. If on or near Lake Strom Thurmond move away from the water
and take shelter!

AND SOUTHEASTERN MCCORMICK COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and has exited the warned area. Therefore, the warning has
been cancelled.  However, gusty winds are still possible with this
thunderstorm.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
Columbia.
