The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northeastern Cabarrus County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  Southeastern Rowan County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...

* Until 915 PM EDT.

* At 835 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northeast
  of Kannapolis, or 4 miles southwest of Faith, moving northeast at 5
  mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Salisbury, China Grove, Spencer, Landis, Granite Quarry, Rockwell,
  Faith, Gold Hill, and High Rock Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Brief damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines over small 
areas. A brief period of large hail is also possible. Seek shelter 
inside an interior room.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHEASTERN CABARRUS AND
SOUTHEASTERN ROWAN COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 915 PM EDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.
