The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Cheyenne County in northwestern Kansas...
  Rawlins County in northwestern Kansas...
  Hitchcock County in southwestern Nebraska...
  Dundy County in southwestern Nebraska...

* Until 1215 AM MDT/115 AM CDT/.

* At 1057 PM MDT/1157 PM CDT/, severe thunderstorms were located
  along a line extending from 10 miles northwest of Stratton to 7
  miles southeast of Haigler, moving southeast at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near...
  Benkelman around 1105 PM MDT.
  Stratton around 1210 AM CDT.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include
Bird City, McDonald, Atwood and Ludell.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

MDT/115 AM CDT/ FOR EASTERN CHEYENNE AND RAWLINS COUNTIES IN
NORTHWESTERN KANSAS...HITCHCOCK AND SOUTHEASTERN DUNDY COUNTIES IN
SOUTHWESTERN NEBRASKA...

At 1136 PM MDT/1236 AM CDT/, severe thunderstorms were located along
a line extending from 10 miles south of Stratton to 8 miles south of
Benkelman, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

These severe storms will be near...
  Herndon and Ludell around 130 AM CDT.
  Atwood around 135 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include
Blakeman, Beardsley, Wheeler, and Max.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

These thunderstorms will produce strong winds resulting in areas of
near zero visibility in blowing dirt. Use extreme caution if you must
travel and be alert for rapidly changing visibility.
