The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northwestern Mellette County in south central South Dakota...
  Northeastern Jackson County in southwestern South Dakota...
  Southeastern Haakon County in west central South Dakota...

* Until 1045 PM MDT /1145 PM CDT/.

* At 949 PM MDT /1049 PM CDT/, severe thunderstorms were located
  along a line from 6 miles southeast of Ottumwa to over Kadoka, or
  along a line from 24 miles northeast of Philip to over Kadoka,
  moving southeast at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Automated observations.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Philip, Kadoka, Midland, Belvidere, Ottumwa and Nowlin.

This includes Interstate 90 in South Dakota between Mile Markers 147
and 174.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms have produced widespread
damaging winds and are capable of producing large hail.

/1145 PM CDT/ FOR NORTHWESTERN MELLETTE, NORTHEASTERN JACKSON AND
SOUTHEASTERN HAAKON COUNTIES...

At 1019 PM MDT /1119 PM CDT/, severe thunderstorms were located along
a line from 9 miles east of Midland to 9 miles south of Belvidere, or
along a line from 31 miles northeast of Kadoka to 14 miles southeast
of Kadoka, moving southeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
         tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
         roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
  Kadoka, Midland and Belvidere.

This includes Interstate 90 in South Dakota between Mile Markers 152
and 174.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing
widespread damaging winds and large hail.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning is one of natures leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning that was previously in effect has
been reissued for Mellette and Jackson Counties and is in effect
until 1130 PM MDT /1230 AM CDT/. Please refer to that bulletin for
the latest severe weather information.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM MDT /600
AM CDT/ Wednesday for portions of south central and southwest South
Dakota.
