The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Greene County in west central Iowa...

* Until 615 AM CDT.

* At 546 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located over Scranton, or 10 miles west of Jefferson, moving
  northeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Scranton and Ralston around 550 AM CDT.
  Churdan around 600 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Dana,
Churdan, Grand Junction, Paton, Scranton, Jefferson Municipal
Airport, Rippey, and Ralston.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

At 602 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Churdan, or 6 miles northwest of Jefferson, moving
northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely.

  Paton around 615 AM CDT.

...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR CENTRAL GREENE COUNTY WILL EXPIRE AT 615
AM CDT...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, gusty
winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 AM CDT for
west central Iowa.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for
central Greene County until 630 AM CDT.
